Applications of MASTA

MASTA FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS

MASTA can be used to facilitate optimisation of important automotive transmission design considerations such as gear vibration, whine and rattle, and to simulate and analyse gear shift quality & dynamics.

In addition, using MASTA, you can design gearboxes and drivelines to have high power density through the optimisation of:

  • Gear macro and micro geometries
  • Tooth contact patterns
  • Housing and shaft deflection
  • Shaft fatigue and stress analysis
  • Gear scuffing
  • Gear root stress analysis

MASTA FOR WIND TURBINE APPLICATIONS

High power density is an important consideration when designing wind turbine gearboxes and additionally, gearboxes, blade pitch and yaw mechanisms require high levels of reliability.

The cutting-edge features within MASTA enable the rapid design, simulation and analysis of the entire system in order to meet these requirements.

MASTA FOR CYLINDRICAL GEAR MANUFACTURING

Included in MASTA is the ability to perform hobbing, shaping and shaving process simulation based on specified gear dimensions and manufacturing tolerances. These simulations can be used to predict gear profile, lead profiles and pitch errors.

In addition, using MASTA you can optimise the shaping or hobbing cutter profile for maximum gear bending strength which potentially results in lower facewidth gears leading to shorted transmissions and lower material costs.
