Schulich Off-Road Racing team from the University of Calgary, begin preparations to race ahead in the next Baja SAE event, as SMT provide sponsorship for another year!
The Baja SAE circuit is a collegiate design competition, where around 100 universities from the world of design, manufacture and compete their single seat off-road vehicles in both dynamic and static events.
There are strict rules for this competition, including having to use a 10 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine, which helps level the playing field for all participants.
“To stand a chance of winning, it’s imperative that you get the most out of the provided engine to perform well, so drivetrain design and efficiency is crucial.
This season, we are hoping to use MASTA software (provided by SMT) to help in the design process of our drivetrain components.
Using MASTA to design an optimised drivetrain system will not only help us perform well in the dynamic competition events, but also in our design presentation, where analysis and validation using software is very valuable.”
– Tyler, Drivetrain Lead at Schulich Off-Road
SMT wish Tyler and the Schulich Off-Road team the best of luck in this year’s competition, and can’t wait to find out how they get on.
